Mister Zion's Ballarat Cup soared after drew "the pole"

Rising stars Mister Zion and Sammy Maguire were among the big winners at the PETstock Ballarat Pacing Cup barrier draw, conducted live on Sport 927 on Wednesday morning.

Four-year-old Mister Zion, who took his record to 12 wins from 19 runs with a last-start win in the Group 1 South Australian Pacing Cup, drew the coveted inside alley for Saturday night’s $125,000 leg of the Barastoc Grand Circuit.
Bendigo Cup hero Sammy Maguire, a five-year-old who has won 17 from 30, also drew prominently and will roll from gate three in the 2710-metre mobile.
They will be high up in betting markets with most of the other big names drawing poorly.
Popular New South Wales veteran Karloo Mick fared worst – landing outside the back row – while the first two home in last year’s race, Mister Swinger and Mr Feelgood, will start from barriers 11 and 12 respectively.
Queensland millionaire Be Good Johnny has the job ahead at his Victorian swansong after drawing outside-front-row (seven), while Kiwi raider Our Awesome Armbro has drawn immediately inside in six.
Our Malabar (two), Broadway Play (four) and Tear It All Away (five) round out the front line, while Cincinnati Kid and Ti Vogliobene drew gates nine and 10 but will come in one position if emergency Make Waves (eight) doesn’t start.
The PETstock Ballarat Pacing Cup is the headline of Saturday night’s nine-race card – Night Two of the Sky Racing Nights Of Glory.
